If you haven’t seen “BatBoy: The Musical,” you still have this weekend to make it happen. on the Main Stage of the Texas State Theatre Center. The musical comedy inspired by the Weekly World News is modern, the music is more contemporary, but the musical form is timeless. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for students.
If you are a fan of “Noises Off” or the work of Christopher Guest (Best of Show, A Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman), you will delight in the Wimberley Players’ “Inspecting Carol,” which starts this evening at 8 p.m. at the Wimberley Playhouse (450 Old Kyle Road.) It all starts with a theater group trying to put on and maybe update “A Christmas Carol.” The jokes come thick and fast. Tickets are $18.
The Cheatham Street Warehouse (119 Cheatham Street) has a very solid coupling in the sounds of Southside Union with country-flavored rock and Buster Jiggs with rock-flavored country. You’ll just find it all to be very tasty. Although, actually, there is a blend of many musical flavors in both bands. It starts up around 9:30 p.m.
At Jowers Hall, in Studio 178, the Texas State advanced choreography students and faculty will dance in a Choreographer’s Showcase presentation. Tickets are only $5. Also included is faculty choreography set on the “Performance Workshop” class.
